If explosion protection requirements are low, the fully equipped protective housings A__70 by TR-Electronic are often too sophisticated. If explosive atmospheres are rare and incurred only briefly, the Product Directive 2014/34/EC (also referred to as "ATEX 95") only requires category 3 devices, i.e. devices with relatively simple explosion protection equipment. Therefore, most of the encoders with standard industry size 58 mm are available in a version for application in EX zones. This means that the scanning models and interfaces of the known C-V58 series can be used – from simple analog rotary encoders and standard SSI interfaces to industrial Ethernet connections for Profinet, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP and Powerlink directly in the rotary encoder; the A_V58 series is certified for use in explosive atmosphere zone 2/22 where dusts or gases are present in explosive mixtures only rarely and briefly. As is the case with almost all rotary encoder systems from TR, the A_V58 can be programmed, either via the bus/Ethernet or via programming lines and our TRWinProg programming software.
