Injection Molding

The company Ferromatik Milacron Maschinenbau GmbH in Malterdingen develops, manufactures and sells injection molding machines for the production of plastic components throughout the world. in the pilot plant procedures are tested, processes optimized and feasibility studied on current machines in close collaboration between customer, mechanical engineering, mold making and granulate manufacturer. Many household articles and packaging, but also mechanical components for electronics and motor vehicles are only made possible by efficient injection molding technology. As complete supplier, Ferromatik-Milacron not only produces the actual injection molding machine, but also works with partners to provide the necessary handling units.

The machine shown in the film generates all relevant movements hydraulically. During each working stroke, the closing movement of the tool is acquired absolutely and wear-free. This guarantees identical production conditions throughout the production process. The movements of the extruder units are also measured and regulated accordingly.

Linear measuring systems are basically available in two designs: In a profiled housing, for mounting to axes, and in a pressure-resistant casing duct, for installation in the hydraulic cylinder. Both device types operate in accordance with the magnetostriction method and so consequently operate without contact and wear-free.

Systems in profiled housing or for direct cylinder installation are preferred, depending on the machine configuration. In this application, free accessibility to measuring system and magnet was decisive for the choice of the profiled housing variant.
